Is there a correlation with your results and the weather? I was just trying to think what might dramatically alter peoples' interest in parks and all I could think of was the weather.

I tell people about it but most people aren't interested. I think they're happy to let me be their geek news filter, or perhaps they're just humoring me. Either way I think the aesthetics of the site go a long way to keep out wrong people.

C'mon pg. Imagine if you had polled the community before changing the name of Startup News. They'd have said no and we'd still only be reading about venture capital and where to incorporate etc. Consensus almost always favors the status quo

Please please please do this. If nothing more than for the experiment itself. Personally I had just decided that I need to switch the no procrastination feature on so I was delighted to the title of this post. HN is too interesting, it's do

I agree but personally I view art in the sense that it is an intermediary between the artist and the audience, a symbolic representation of the true value of it: the semantics of the piece and how the artist chose to express themselves and

I don't understand why he is so morose. I could understand if it had been revealed that Chopin was actually a computer. Being upset about this seems akin to being upset that the world's fastest sprinter can be equaled or bettered by a motor

Sorry I was just being facetious. I had the phrase 'unmaintained projects' in my head and within the first second of looking at the site I noticed the word windows. Juxtaposed my brain thought: 'windows is an unmaintained project'. If true,

I don't think it would burn up because its relative motion to the atmosphere will be zero apart from a relatively small vertical acceleration due to gravity. It would most likely come straight down on top of its base.

My inner geek cringes, since the sides of a lever move in opposite directions . His inner geek need not cringe, a crowbar is a kind of lever where the 'sides' move in the same direction. Voilà!

Great response. Don't worry I didn't think you were being a jerk before. In truth I was enjoying advocating a contrarian position and I expected a reaction. (I like to think I wasn't trolling(!) because what I said was my honest opinion). A
