Your reply, while valid in isolation, isn't a meaningful response to the parent post. There is no single "global warming prediction", there have been thousands. The parent was speaking to those, not whichever one ends up bei

My intention is to inform, not to blame. :) Otherwise, I agree with your suggestion [of providing more guidance on the reply screen] Until a better solution is implemented, would you help spread the word when you see code quotes used this w

Your quote is better than theirs, but your criticism ('incredibly disingenuous', 'spreading disinformation') is hyperbolic and assumes bad faith. Edit: This would be true even if they didn't provide a link to the so

That style of quotation renders terribly on mobile. Preserving line width isn't helpful for non-code quotes. You can use ">" and wrap the quoted text with italicizing asterisks.

At the beginning of the pandemic, Amazon was overwhelmed by people panic buying or preparing for shelter in place. The problem was not primarily the shipping industry, it was within Amazon. They've since hired large numbers of people

Certain products will be made and/or stock-piled closer to home. The effect this has on globalism overall depends on how various factions battle over narratives.

All events are the result of a complex web of causal histories. The choice of which factors to focus on sometimes depend on the biases of the speaker. In this case, a Darwin award seems more appropriate to me than blaming anyone for specula

I think people often mistake bias in the moderation for bias in the moderators, ignoring that much moderation depends on flagging, which in turn is influenced by the bias of the people who were attracted to the conversation.

Regarding paying for WSJ, I think it would be better (between those two choices) for it to not be submitted. Articles which require payment are not accessible to the whole HN community. Edit: Also, thank you for the working link.

My understanding is that paywalled articles should be bypassable. It's okay to ask how to bypass it, but not to [hypothetically] complain about the need to bypass it.
