It’s a pretty common issue. Search around and you will find pages and pages of people experiencing the same issues on macrumors, the apple discussion forum, etc. Glad it hasn’t been a problem for you, I envy you!

Oh yeah, I’ve turned every single possible thing off. It still randomly dark-wakes. And then, when it does, it will sometimes get into a doom loop of scanning the network and refusing to release its power assertions, meaning it won’t go bac

Yeah, because apple is totally reliable for sleeping when it is supposed to. I love my macbook, but I have dealt with over a decade of macbooks waking when they should not. Love it when my macbook cooks itself in my bag overnight.

Yes, 100%. However, the distilled models are still pretty good at sticking to their approach to censorship. I would assume that the behavior comes from their reasoning patterns and fine tuning data, but I could be wrong. And yes, DeepSeek’s

I was using one of the smaller models (7b), but I was able to bypass its internal censorship by poisoning its <think> section a bit with additional thoughts about answering truthfully, regardless of ethical sensitivities. Got it to gi

I'm holding out hope for a way to set per-tab (session) theme colors. In wezterm I have a fish alias called "prodmode" that sets my theme to a red theme (and sets some other environment things up). It's incredibly helpfu

Full disclosure: I’m the head of engineering here, and I’ve been in the trenches during this whole thing. Our partnership did start with stars in our eyes. As Alex talks about in the post, there’s no hard feelings, but sometimes an opportun

Read this post on my laptop... got my phone out and went to the app store. You can imagine what happened then. I literally could not find your app. Even searching with the same capitalization and punctuation, or by adding "game",

A structural engineer has to get it right the first time, or people may get hurt. Nobody is going to lose their life if a SWE has some inefficient code duplication in their POC that is tested by a maximum of 5 people. There is a time for im

Not sure why almost all of Tennessee is unavailable, but I can say that their prices here have risen astronomically. Our Taco Bell used to have a line around the building pretty consistently, now it’s essentially empty all the time.

Pretty sure I still have my NR70 around here somewhere. I still have a few other PDAs from that era as well. Wonder if I can find my old HP pocket pc that ran Windows CE...

Guessing this is going to kill Bartender. I don’t love that it does screen recording, but this is probably the nail in the coffin.

This is awesome. I’ve really struggled with cross-platform resolutions in my bazel setup, as our services are built for containers that run in k8s, but we also want to be able to build and run locally for scripts, tests, etc. I have a branc

This is how I got into web development. I was taking a web design class in college (back in 2002 or so). I had built a 20-ish page site for a project and got tired of copying and editing my header and footer. Initially I used frames, but th

The tooling around gRPC with bazel when using python is so bad it’s almost impossible to work with, which is hilarious considering they both come from Google. Then I had additional problems getting it to work with Ruby. Then I had more prob

I have always said that most cathedrals, basilicas, etc leave me in awe of the catholic church's wealth and power, but do little to draw me closer to God. Sagrada Familia left me speechless. The way Gaudi works nature and light made me

In my experience, python has been far, far worse than ruby. Now, to be fair, I’m much more comfortable in the ruby ecosystem, but still, everything feels much more brittle in python package management.

This new credit pricing change is customer-hostile, and the rollout is terrible. Not only do we have a paltry week to figure it out, half the UI and marketing still assumes paygo, and there's no way to set up auto-refills, at least for

This has been an ongoing issue with Orbstack for almost a year now. It's a great project, but this issue is quite destructive. Orbstack creates a 8TB sparse file disk image. If you have a Time Machine disk that is not formatted as APFS

I've had a Lamy Safari that I bought as a kid back in 1997. I loved the pen, but as a left hander, I fell out of using it quite a long time ago. Just yesterday I read that they have left-hand nibs, and now I'm quite interested in

Nah, nothing that complex. The only AWS service we use that isn’t just their clone of an existing tool is S3, which we just use fakes3 for. Everything else is easily deployable in a cluster already, because it’s mostly standard systems like
