Take a step back and look at the system. Venture backed companies are required to grow fast to be competitive. They do whatever they can to achieve this goal. Complain about that, not an individual. The individual is just trying to survive.

But the question is why aren't people taking advantage of the perceived opportunity to profit? The only time this would happen is if something about the underlying economics changed --like energy got more expensive.

Maybe Coinbase themselves does. Coinbase has market makers though who pay 0% transaction fees. So the makers may take the other side of transactions.

Who cares. The protocol has so many other issues. Anyone who has worked with ETH will tell you that it isn’t really designed as a currency. A large chunk of the transactions are exchanged who must transfer deposits to other addresses. This

There is a difference between an ATM and blockchain app though. If an ATM spits out too much money and that violates the terms of service you signed with the bank (or the ATM provider) the bank has a way to recover the funds since they can
