It's articles like this that make me feel like containers are the new Java EE, factory-factory-builders, dependency injection, etc. I mean all this makes sense in some context, but whatever happened to right tool for the right job? Jus

Sorry I wasn't clear enough in saying that I agree with you here in most cases. But since Unsafe is used in so many applications that it should probably be an exception to this rule for now. That a better solution is to create a public

I agree in most cases that it's perfectly reasonable. But from a pragmatic position, I think this needs to be treated as a special case because of all the people that are using it. I still like the idea of having a flag that opts peopl

Java is very explicit that anything not part of the public API may not work in the next version. So I'd say them disabling it, they're in the right. Since so MANY projects use it though, I think it might need some special attentio

The point is if you have to pass a flag to allow the use of Unsafe, you're breaking "works-out-of-the-box" backwards compatibility.

This seems to suggest you don't even need dbus daemon running to have things working: https://people.debian.org/~stapelberg/docs/systemd-dependenc... just using the library doesn't seem bad to me...

You don't need to fix anything! You're distro should already have handled this for you!! This has almost NOTHING to do with end users.

Because it works, and works well and in 14 years it's the best I've ever had to deal with. Everyone is just throwing FUD around as per usual in a systemd thread.

Arch doesn't have it set to google's servers by default. Do any of the other distributions? If that's the case I see most of the points on this thread being moot. In practice google's server's might be used much at
