I mean sure, PHP has a package manager and you can write software in it. But what compelling advantages does it have over it's competitors if you don't either have legacy code or are primarily a PHP developer?

This sounds like a cartoon version of what would lead to a genocide. It seems like this sort of thing is usually the product of close proximity, prolonged ethnic conflict, a perceived threat (real or imagined), and other pressures like lack

I like it. It can be done well on web. Check out Google Cloud console as an example. Plus, it's a good match for a responsive design that needs to be able to scale from a mobile to a desktop experience and everything in between.

Web apps need to be usable on mobile devices as well. So you can't use a design that is built with the assumption of precise mouse input without having a separate one for mobile. You can totally consolidate the two though, you're

Personally I find this legislation grossly offensive and threatening.

Hate speech legislation would literally prevent you from criticizing protected groups and treat it as if it were a violent offense.

No. But its still bad to create exceptions to the rule of not jailing your political enemies and then using democracy as a prop to pretend there's nothing wrong.

"X is okay only when a democracy does it" is not a compelling argument. In fact that argument by itself undermines the basis of a liberal democracy.

This is still sort of the mainstream view on this, but I think a return to monolithic Rails-style frameworks is coming. Microframeworks and especially Node got a lot of popularity, and then all the microservice stuff started to get popular

Rails might not be perfect, but there's a 95% chance it'll be better than the custom framework you end up building on Node.

1. Node on the server does not have a comprehensive framework that compares to rails. You'll roll your own, and it will suck. 2. It's not any more difficult to scale than Node, you'll just need more servers to handle the load

You should have tokens with short durations that are refreshed upon use. That greatly reduces the odds of a token being stolen or leaked and then used before it expires.

This is interesting and IMO generally true. But, not everything that is called a conspiracy theory is a conspiracy theory. Asking “who benefits from this policy, and are they in a position to have influence in creating or maintaining it?” i

Well that's not the only downside. You're also nearly $2000 for a laptop with a CPU that is significantly slower than what you'll get in either a new MBP or most Windows alternatives.

Honestly nevermind being tied to one theater chain, I wouldn’t mind being tied to one theater. I go to the same one almost all of the time anyways. And even if I didn’t, there are enough AMCs around that it’s not much of a value add for me

This just doesn’t make sense. Google/Amazon employees basically are some random DevOps “dudes”. Whereas your own people would be...whoever you decided to hire to work on your infrastructure.

This is one of those things that even if it can be done correctly in theory, it’s often so bad in practice that it’s probably best to just not do it at all.
