Can you point me to some docs on how to accomplish this? I'm currently using Slack Nebula to achieve similar goals but every time I looked up WireGuard tutorials, it was to tunnel traffic through a VPS, which I didn't want to do.

I think you are correct. I think this is why certain Vim "demigods" have arisen (aka tpope). Only a few take the time to learn VimScript. In my humble opinion, when I took the time to try and learn it a while back, I ascertaine

Yeah, ever since LSP became a thing (thank you TypeScript!), Vim got better with LSP clients. Soon, it will even be built into NeoVim!
