Though I can see the argument that if I was building an app with keybinds as controls rather than mouse primarly, probably a framework like this would be the way to go. Those old terminal apps that used to be used in banks, car hire place

I think there are some problems with assuming that ChatGPT-like AI will improve in quality, _especially_ if it gets good enough to popular and generally trusted. Where will the next generation of AI training data come from, if the vast majo

Thanks. I understand your position better now, and agree with more of it than I first thought. I don’t think our positions are so divergent as to be problematic in real life - though I suspect I will continue to monitor my speech a little m

I take issue with “perfectly understandable”. I think many (most?) people hearing or reading that would make an assumption from your use of ‘he’ that you expect that professors and students are usually male. Perhaps that you believe they _s

I think “We are not attempting to assign levels of harm to the terms on this site.” is quite pain in its meaning. Do you just object to the existence of the list? Or am I misunderstanding and you’re just saying it’s weird to list them all t

It’s very obviously not intended to imply that all the terms are equally offensive or inaccurate. Why _wouldn’t_ I want to avoid using any but your last category?

Oh come on. The page itself recognizes that it’s only advice. There were a few things on the list I didn’t know the history of (e.g. ‘grandfathered’) that I’ll try to avoid now. I can understand why someone who comes from a different histor

Apple Music includes the old iTunes Match features It does not - it’s a separate subscription, though you can use both at once. [Edit: maybe I’m wrong? See ensuing discussion below.]

The user experience is quite different though? And I think there’s value in decentralization even without the granularity of a server-per-person. Sure, some Mastodon servers might go down, or some admins might do unwise things, but damage s

Definitely not! It just seems a bit ‘risky’ to use another centralized Twitter-like when Mastodon seems to be working. I’d rather we gave it a try than another centralized service.

It sounds like another server would’ve served you better - but I get what you’re saying, it’s not only that, it’s the nature of Mastodon (or, ActivityPub, I guess). Servers basically only know about their own users, and people they follow.
