If you just want a little widget to display and not necessarily a poster, there is also this: https://github.com/jrm2k6/contwidgetor (gets your bitbucket contributions as well).

With react-native, if you isolate your components from your logic enough, (example: use Redux), you can reuse all the logic in a react-native app, and just change the components part, which is usually not that hard, at least on the simple a

Just seeing your reply now, sorry, not used to get answers on HN :D Yes, I see what you mean. Maybe I should give it a shot. :)

Stupid question, but Ionic is not native, or was not at least. But react-native is actually using only native APIs through Javascript. So if you want to have a native look and feel, why not go with react-native?

I was checking about that today, to see if it was actually something I would be interested in working on. I found that service doing something similar: http://docs.kickbox.io/ Is that what you meant? EDIT: ok, you don'

Canada is actually the closest to having an "accreditation" for Computer Engineering if I remember correctly. I have never interviewed in Canada so I cannot tell if your school/degree matters that much, but not everybody can

This is exactly how I reacted when reading that line. Everybody can become a developer, yes. Everybody can become a good developer quickly, most likely not, and that applies also to people coming out with a formal education in CS, not only

I am working on different things: - some newsletter + different API wrappers in Laravel - a widget easy to integrate on your website, fetching your contributions from Github and Bitbucket to display them in a calendar. - A reading companion

I think you need to get an H1B first to be at least eligible to the green card. J1 is a visa with no intent of immigration.

Github invalidates your API token if it is pushed in one of your repos. Pretty handy.

I have the same issue when it comes to the slowness. It crashes really easily, and takes up a lot of RAM. Chrome runs just fine with the same websites. Each time I switched to a new opened tab, it hangs, that is deeply annoying. It might be

And more than that, not enough spots for everybody. Big companies are going to get most of them no? Especially for an intern, it is almost impossible.

I think it takes time though to apply for the J1 visa. I remember the process to get mine being 6-7 weeks and I was interning for a UC university, meaning they have 'easy' access to it.
