I think that's fair to say. If you wish to incur risk and put some of your savings to work, then I would recommend the rental property game. I think it is the most effective way for a white collar worker to amass wealth in a single wor

I have heard that but it is my opinion that companies valued >= $1B are becoming a dime a dozen. I work at one climbing that ladder and we could be displaced in 6 months by a better implementation.

This one is certainly a debacle. Uber was the 1 unicorn left. There is no other darling startup that's gonna be scratching $100b anytime soon. This IPO failure ended the crazy run of cash since the '08 crisis. It was also a debacl

I am a bit more cynical and I would say you are investing in paying off the earlier investors.

All I know is that reading HN and responding to what I've learned has made my salary go up, up, up in the last 5 years. Partially by recognizing there are so many cool things out there that pay well. You can be defeatist and say "

Property ownership and rental. It is very simple, and barely a "project" after you get going. It's like investing on steroids. There is a lot of money to make, with a little more risk, and a lot more work than ETFs.

If you have to create a special message board that is the only place where you can say what you want to, perhaps you should think about what you are saying. This is so obviously not an issue of "free speech." Free speech means the

When you buy a share, you are not contributing to the company. Their shares were sold at IPO and they've already collected all the proceeds from them. You are just gambling.

Managed funds are a ripoff, and not index funds. There is nearly infinite data showing that S&P 500 index funds outperform every single investment strategy. I would be focusing on bonds indexes right now though, that's just me. Goo

And then I would just shrug my shoulders and buy more index funds. Investing in individual companies, no matter what you think you know, is always unwise compared to index investing.

Tell me as specifically as possible what this company will look like when you will have considered it a success. I don't want to follow a leader that doesn't have a clear vision of what they're working towards.
