Did pretty much this exact sequence, with the caveat that I would get larger projects hooked on my ability and then bumped rates. At one point I was making 100$/hr. Then the client offered me a CTO position. Go figure, I took it. :)

I'd hate to be stuck in a Union where what I'm paid is based on my seniority or on some test they come up with to measure my ability. I like being able to negotiate my salary. Unions may initially bring us higher wages but the com

I still feel bad that I lack a real blog or website. I bought a domain over a year ago and still haven't thrown anything up. The reason was that beside my 9-7 job and the 15 hours of freelancing I did on the weekend, I was spending too

Certainly ActiveAdmin has given me a share of headaches as I built my website. That being said - it works, and I'm familiar with it(and Arbre) now. How do you plan to get established sites like mine to switch to Upmin with such a high

Whether or not you can live comfortably is not in question. If you're only making enough in your city to live comfortably if you use all of your money to do so, then you need to live uncomfortably. There are plenty of poor living in al

This guy is a symptom of an alarming trend I've seen in the field. We're all riding high, spending every $ we make because we think the end will never come. I think it will, and a lot of us are going to be bankrupt. I don't c

As terrible as this experience was, what's most alarming is that you're 37, have been working for nearly 20 years in this field, and don't have enough savings to tide you over even two months without work. You really need to

Damn, that was depressing, but after you say that I now agree with you. That's why we save aggressively...except for this year. This year, all my savings go to pay for a wedding I have very little choice about. This is the price of lov

My only concern is if the app wants the value immediately. I don't want to have to make a separate GET after receiving a VALUE url to get the info. I understand why this is useful if I'm passing it along, but what if I'm not?
