That would be fraud. As a recent immigrant myself one of my fears is that the high-trust culture that makes society work where I am now will devolve into a low-trust one that will make this place more like the third-world country I escaped

Fascinating! You'd have to do a bit more calculation though, as the distances were measured on a specific date: https://nccr-planets.ch/blog/2017/12/07/astronomy-in-your-wa... (Scroll to the last pa

Individual priests, nuns, and laity have often been at the forefront of defending people's rights in dictatorships. The organisations' track records have been more checkered.

This doesn't address GPs question about why, if local talent is plentiful, companies are willing to spend a lot of money and jump through several hoops to pay top dollar to immigrants when they could pay the same to a local and not hav

I don't understand this thinking. Do you think it's fine if new endemic diseases are added that will kill multiple of 10k or 100k people a year, every year?

Interesting, but it's not enough to come to a general conclusion. Without understanding what the mechanism of infection was you can't say that's how it works for everyone, everywhere. Are we seeing this anywhere else? We'

How about not driving at reckless (your word) speeds on public roads? I'd be happy to see sanctioned events but I doubt that would happen.

Alright, without any evidence to back it up there is no reason to believe that you are likely to catch covid at home as anywhere else. Edit: I don't even understand why there are 'political sides or movements' to this in the

I agree it would be difficult to prove that they caught it at work, but saying they can catch it as easily at home just sounds like 'reopen' rhetoric to me.

Maybe because they have 2FA on other stuff? E.g. ANZ have it on adding BPay and Pay Anyone recipients, changing contact details, and some (apparently randomly selected) fund transfers. Not saying it's secure, just that it may explain t

You haven't explained how blockchain is both useful and necessary in finance. The useful part you asserted without elaborating, the necessary part I don't see.

The OP specifically asked to leave cryptocurrencies out of it and judging by the post does not consider finance to be a 'substantial' example. Are there any concrete examples where blockchains are both useful and necessary?
