They also used an open graph meta tag, too. So people can easily share the prank on Facebook, presumably. A little ironic. <meta property="og:description" content="Hulu.com is a video service on the World Wide Web that offers hit TV s

Why the downvotes? It is common sense to not run software with more permissions than it needs. Your production app shouldn't connect to your database through the root account, for example, unless it needs full, complete permissions to funct

Personally, I think democratizing technology is a really, really good thing. Sure, we have to suffer through things like Comic Sans abuse and crappy apps, but that is a minuscule price to pay for increasing the creative freedom of humanity.

The best comment, in my opinion, is the one that had this nugget. Sadly, it isn't the top rated comment. Here's the link: http://www.quora.com/What-was-John-Nash-like-as-a-professor/...

Lucas and his team are amazing. Everyone makes mistakes, and no system will be perfectly secure. So in my mind the best parts of the entire post were these: "We have hired professional white hat hackers with government level security experi

Hi Elliot, I appreciate that you discovered a security flaw and took action to get it fixed. Thank you. However, the WAY you did this really screwed up a bunch of people. I have an app running on PHP Fog that serves 25,000 people a day, and

Astonishingly classless and mean-spirited. Especially this part: "feel free to harass the staff in their support forums..." The founder and CEO of PHP Fog is extremely active in their support forum. He provides lightning fast responses, and

I got my account back! Someone at Facebook evidently saw this, and (1) updated the blog post and (2) brought my account back to life. Thank you! However, unless this was a general fix, it looks like other developers are still stranded: htt

I've considered that. The problem is that if they ever find out that the account is not a "real" account, they will disable it. And, unless you have other people as admins, all your apps will also be deleted.

Clever idea -- human engineering can get past any kind of software security. But I don't want fix this problem for myself by dragging more people into the pain. Thanks for trying to help, though.

Probably not, because pages inside Facebook proper don't display inside frames. Despite some terrible failings with providing support to the human beings who use their services, they've got good engineers doing security. :)

I bet you're right. I'm glad they made the new system -- it looks really clean and useful. I just wish they hadn't left the old system halfway operating, so you can fall into it but not climb out. And they really, really need to edit that b

Thank you for pointing that out, but I tried that and it didn't work. The network simply doesn't appear in my list of networks. Other developers haven't been able to get this to work, either. Thanks though!

You are completely right. I admit that I wasn't paying a lot of attention. I was in a mode of scanning-documentation-trying-to-figure-something-out. I didn't think that poking around the developer center could destroy my account. Obviously

That URL itself doesn't perform the action -- that page has a button that, when clicked, submits a form with POST. That is when the action happens. In addition, it appears that they have taken steps to prevent CSRF. So no, it probably isn
