Not my experience at all. I’ve always had different recommendations based on the condition of the parts and the costs of repair vs. replace. There are plenty of other things that need work beyond frames.

I’m looking at spending 100k to bring a property up to fire code, and possibly rebuilding the floor. Until that happens, I won’t be able to move in. So, yes, buildings do become obsolete at the whim of some other entity.

A comedic part about Houston flooding is that at least one large suburb on the west side was built within an overflow reservoir. The neighborhood is literally a water containment area.

They’re not changing things in a meaningful way because of other decisions, such as letting letting minimum wage fall to an obscenely low level such that people have to work two jobs simply to survive.

It’s likely that this is derived from a pangolin virus. Pangolins are most definitely traded at Chinese wet markets.

Who even said it would be software. In Germany I have the option of letting the government do my taxes for me. At the end of the year I can choose to dispute the charges.

This is the solution. We can already do this. A pilot program was run. The problem is that the anti tax wing of the Republican party and Turbotax are actively opposed. Instead of developing software, we should be writing our representatives

There is no regulated option in Texas. Required winterization is the kind of regulation which would have prevented the plants from shutting down.

One of their nuclear plants is offline, I’m guessing because of uninsulated water pipes.

There is no such thing as cancel culture. It is a rhetorical device created to shift blame, allowing perpetrators of injustices to claim that they are really the victims.

Why? It’s the payoff of a limited monopoly that justifies the investment in the research. Without that incentive progress might be even further restricted.
