Yes, I've read it, and it resonated quite strongly with my recently deteriorating ubuntu experience. The thing is, I don't feel like spending hours of system tuning on Debian like I used to do. Maybe I should give debian or gentoo another t

I had the same problem, though not to the point of safety shutdown. Fiddling with vgaswitcheroo and acpi settings mitigated the problem. My laptop is much cooler and silent now. This has been the biggest pain point in Linux for me so far. I

Could someone please open a kickstarter for a new thorium reactor design and construction? I'll gladly contribute to the initial cost (probably billions) just to get a lifetime of free and CO2-efficient electricity. Couldn't this way of fun

Believe me or not, they actually have an Alliance Française branch in Granada, Nicaragua, with native French speakers that can teach you the language. Cheap nice place. EDIT: It's not so nice actually. Go to San Juan Del Sur instead.

Actually, Oracle JVM does NOT work natively on the Raspberry PI at all! It needs a special kernel with (slower) floating point ABI operations, called soft-float [1]. This article is poorly disguised PR paid by Oracle to get its foot back in

I worked for a very (very) large french website that does not use version control internally. Mostly because most of the code is owned by a single guy and he does not see the problem with that. Note the 'ed' at the end of 'work'.

But to me, comparing LDAP to AD is like comparing an engine to a car, isn't it? LDAP is a protocol, it is not a standalone service. Don't you also need a client-side authentication mechanism and server-side sharing system that is seemlessly
