"If people do make history, as this democratic view suggests, then two people make twice as much history as one." If those people are isolated, this may be true, but if they are able to communicate, interact, and cooperate, to me it follows

In its earlier days, Facebook had many hidden messages inside its app. See http://mashable.com/2007/09/10/facebook-easter-eggs . That said--and without having much other context for Fred Wilson's idea of "voice"--having fun with a company'

Yeah, I tend to agree. I personally find that 90%+ of the movie content on Netflix is not worth watching (the TV show selection, however, is great). If Netflix continues growing, I could see a scenario much like the iTunes Music Store vis-a

There's been quite a lot of talk that NFLX is overpriced. As the company continues to expand internationally, I wonder whether we'll look back and marvel how cheap it was.

1. As another poster already said, "Readability and typography is not something someone who color grades deals with." EVEN IF I were to accept that this is not a tu quoque argument, the two skills are completely different . I am personally

The reason that "some ppl [sic] may not like it" is because it's logically unsound. Dismissing a point of view based on the party, rather than on the position, is the definition of a tu quoque fallacy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu_quoqu

I think this sounds great. While I'm aware of a couple studies that show single-founder companies being less successful than multiple-founder companies, I think the problem is being exacerbated by a self-fulfilling prophecy created by inves

I would also point out that Apple is doing a lot more "overdesigning" itself these days. I think the address book in Lion or the Reminders iOS 5 app are evidence.

As cofounder of the company that's ticketing f8 2011, and as someone who has worked closely with Facebook on the event for some time, I find the $400 ticket price very reasonable. It's more affordable than Google I/O and WWDC, by an order

You seem to be making the argument that because full use of error correction can sometimes make a QR code unreadable, no non-QR code data should ever be inserted into a QR code. Seems like a sweeping generalization, that's all.

"Abuse" is a relative term. Denso may not have introduced error correction for the use case of inserting aesthetic elements into the barcode, but hey, it works. MogoTix inserts its logo into QR codes as a form of branding and identification

Agreed. We've been doing this with our MogoTix QR codes for some time. It's a branding opportunity, as well as a small indicator that someone's ticket is genuine.

Yes, the $76 billion includes $47.7 billion of long term investments, and possibly in there are the value of the supplier agreements that Apple is so famous for. On the other hand... potato, po-tah-to? While I'm acutely aware of the vast di

I absolutely love both the concept and execution of this. I hope it offers some of the intimacy that Facebook eschews. My only gripe? 50 is too many "friends." I doubt many of us interact meaningfully with 50 people in a given week, let alo
