Very linkbaity title. First sentence gets to the real point of the article: >>I've found, contrary to what you sometimes read, that learning Python and Haskell has not improved my programming using other languages

The only issue I see with not being able to see the scores of comments is that joke or off-the-cuff comments are probably getting a lot more points. If there was a comment that made me laugh (while sticking to the point) I will be more like

Right, but I am not sure how a POI database has any sense of copyright-ability. Feist v. Rural states that a collection has to have a minimal requirement of creativity. Foursquare and its venue classifications are probably can be argued fo

How about a write-up on how to get prgmr up and running? If it doesn't take a super sysadmin, it might be nice to see the process you took.

You can also instantly search for dupes. Keep the hashes in a database and just check before accepting the submission. (This has always been an idea I was thinking about; nice to see it implemented)

ick... 21 URL shortend DIY projects from other websites with no indication as to where the link will send you. I understand shortening your URLs for Twitter and sort, but this is just silly.

The article is about setting up landing pages for different web campaigns. I would assume that you would be selling something on these landing pages which would require additional clicks to get. I agree with the first original comment, are

Don't you know that having a plus sign in your email breaks half of the websites' regex. "There is an invalid character in your email address, please try again."

MrBrown, I don't know if this is your service or not... but please don't make me sign in to Foursquare and not allow me to try your application. You can take my email and tell me when you are ready, but it scares me to have just given you

Signing up worked when I got back home to a modern browser... Maybe it was a bug or maybe it was IE6. Thanks.

I get an error: {"error":"not_found","reason":"no_db_file"} when trying to sign up. Too bad, this seems very interesting!

Right, I wouldn't mind the first option. I'd almost expect it, but there is something about giving me ads from things completely unrelated to books that gets me. Not that it's a big deal; I will not be using this option. Just wanted to ma

In another interview it was said that Ceglia found the facebook stuff while reviewing paperwork for the fraud case. He might have honestly forgotten and found the documents 7 years later.

I wonder if ads will be specific to what you have on your Kindle or (even scarier) what you have purchased at Amazon.com. This also brings up an interesting question; what you read on your kindle, is it as ad-worthy as what you read online?

I am continuely surprised that someone hasn't come to undercut this market (besides pirating which might be a huge factor here). But can Adobe's offerings be so far and above others that people think $95 a month is a great deal? Note: I ob

I agree 100% with your comment. I think it was incredibly frustrating going through college in classes where people were there just since it is a requirement for basic jobs today. University should not be forced upon these people who want

This is one of my biggest pet-peeves... As a person who is forced to use IE6 at work still, I have come to the conclusion that most sites will not look good in my browser. Why block your content from people who want to see it; just stop sup

I understood why there was an ebook being hosted on GitHub (since they were still making changes to the source code), but this is just wrong. They are making GitHub pay for the distribution costs of their MP3s. This sort of abuse (along w

There's really no delineation between articles. Scanning down the page there is no trigger for your eyes to stop and read headings, which makes you completely miss the article on the GitHub commit monitor... For a website that is meant to b

I guess what I meant to say is that $10 is too much for an ebook which is selling significantly cheaper in paperback or slightly more in hardcover. My favorite example of this is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand: it is $18.99 to buy it for a noo

What I find funny is that this would have never happened if they charged the standard $9.99 e-book price (which in itself is absolutely too much for e-books). The $5 difference is causing quite a stir which I am sure is not worth it in the

well, since everything is in the comments, this could really be a gist of any language... I have seen job opportunities written in code, and some are very impressive. This one misses the mark. There is nothing to it, unfortunately.

We unfortunate users of IE6 get the new 404 page as well. I assume they just gave up on IE6 like most of the web-world has.

This data is very interesting to me. I have always had a feeling that upvotes were slightly skewed towards websites that fail against major corporate firewalls. For example, I cannot read blogs at work so I upvote more blogs than I probab
