If I’m not mistaken, the palantir was not accurate in its clairvoyance, right? Wasn’t it showing the black flag ships approaching Minas Tirith and caused the head of the city to flee when really it was Aragorn or the elves coming to save th

24 is not very good. I just want to point out that a lot of chains that report high tps are cheating in one way or another. I won’t name names but some of the “highest throughput” chains count their node synchronization messages as transact

For what it's worth, my Tiktok feed has 0 political content. It's all dancing, contortionists, singers, and magicians. I think the algorithms serve their masters.

I have to say that many of my fondest memories from all kinds of systems; games, work, play, all of my favorite times were when I was finding an unscratched edge in a model. There’s something superlative about finding a hack, a way to obtai

This is a very hackernews take. The majority of people love Twitter as a product. A vocal minority are upset about disinformation, but most people think it’s entertaining. We know this because it generates more clicks. A ministry of truth t

Hackernews is simultaneously the most cantankerous and, imho, highest quality response on average public forum on the net. I absolutely love it here and sincerely appreciate this place. I feel like I’ve grown up on this site in so many ways

Can you point to a single instance of a cellphone vendor who takes security more seriously than Apple? Put a different way, is there any device with a high monthly active user count that has a higher cost to purchase a black market exploit

I 100% agree. My point was that often in life a lot of success that we attribute to skill is luck. I got insanely lucky more times than I can count. A few coin flips in the other direction and I’d be homeless.

Ok normally I’d just let something like this go but I just have to pull my hair out when I see a comment like this. The attack surface of software as complicated as a modern operating system (iOS or MacOS, etc.) is simply too large to lockd
