Well the easy, non-controversial way to do this is to just introduce it as an easy and awesome new product, that stands on its own and let people opt-in at their own discretion. By auto-enrolling everybody and requiring them to opt-out, tha

I think managed and vetted marketplaces are the way to go. A marketplace where the owner has some level of expertise in order to vet the suppliers, much like Codeable for WordPress or SuperSide for design.

Man, this is such a genius idea. Spend a good amount of time manually looking through job requests, then learn how to search for these, then cluster them and quantify the market which leads to total addressable market, then compare competit

The biggest reason for me would be to prevent sweating in your work outfit. On a scooter you can go fully dressed for work. I enjoyed biking in Austin, but as you can imagine the intense heat a good portion of the year meant a full outfit c

A good example of this that comes to mind on a very small scale is a marketing slack community (TTT) that essentially took a loose network that already existed and gave them a home.

Just a few paragraphs in, the writer incorrectly states that Unsplash requires attribution, which is the exact opposite of the entire premise of Unsplash. If the writer can’t pick up on that obvious fact, makes me trust the whole story less

They could have pivoted to solving intercity shuttles. Works well in that 1-2 hour range between cities without good buses or trains. Groome Transportation in the southeast looks to be doing this well!

I agree with you, the product looks pretty cool and promising, and seems it could be a good fit within Amazon or something with a vast array of clothes.

A very easy way to break this argument is to not look at huge known companies like eBay and Amazon, but brand new companies 1-2 years old that have grown almost entirely by online ads. Eventually word of mouth kicks in, but there are plenty

Took me a bit of time to learn that Texans have this exceptionalism attitude, especially for those who were descendants of the original 300 families. I can’t confirm it broadly but I witnessed preferential hiring treatment for those that we

Interesting that Goldman Sachs pumped up their valuation to $60-90 billion at one point, but now won’t give them a lifeline: “ Goldman Sachs, one of WeWork’s investors, advisers and customers, had been among a consortium of banks willing to

“Information download” is a genius term. In the right industry a company can save years of failure by paying the right person for X amount of hours to glean a ton of knowledge very quickly, assuming they can’t just outright hire them.

Yea the flexibility is the bread and butter. I talked to Regus, and their default pricing revolves around 24-month leases, while WeWork prices off monthly. Spot on from grandparent comment on community. One of their main forms of community

My mid-2017 15" MBP battery life is atrocious if I have 10 Chrome tabs open. Doesn't last more than 3-4 hours. Huge disappointment, but thankfully it's plugged in 95% of the time. Checked my serial number and it's not pa

Great to hear - will be good for the city (depending on who you ask). That's a positive trend. Still think Austin needs more homegrown startups to be in the same sentence as Silicon Valley.

On the suburbs - the funny thing is, besides a few wealthier suburbs to the west of downtown, if you drive 15 minutes outside of downtown, it feels almost no different than the suburbs of Waco, Houston, Dallas, etc.
