Or an iframe, or javascript that retrieves data from a server. Fun idea, but more trouble than it's worth, given how mail clients could bork a complicated implementation.

Aren't the things Google's listing here services, rather than products? Or am I using a narrow definition of a product?

I would love to hear the discussion that took place when they decided how to announce the upgrades to their site. Not a fancy splash page like Blizzard or CCP, not a traditional marketing e-mail, but closing their doors and telling their cu

Is it ironic that a site called "Beauty of the Web" is not itself beautiful? The blue & purple scheme looks like my monitor's having hue issues rather than some subtle color epiphany. The animations are nice but, for example, the "downl

I will certainly buy the game. Those of us have been through the entire DNF emotional roller coaster just want something to show for it. A playable executable, if not the transcendental experience that was promised in 1996. Who knows, it mi

Very seriously considering a Kindle, but all my eBooks are non-DRM ePUBs. I know Amazon has a feature to get your existing files on the Kindle, but has anyone tried to import ePUBs? Do they transfer 1:1 to Amazon's format?

I wonder if this means the activities of the "iPhone Dev Team" are now truly legal? (Not that I know whether they were before) If so, the Google Voice angle gives me a horrible idea: imagine if Google snatched up those iPhone jailbreak devs

I agree, even though I think the bumpers are kind of stylish. But Apple's between a rock and a hard place. Either they lose millions now proving free bumpers/gift certificates to customers, or they lose millions later by ignoring the issue

This situation is definitely most analogous to what happened with the Nintendo Wii Remotes going through TV screens (as opposed to Toyota's acceleration issue). - Both happened when products were used without cases or safety straps - Both a

In the future, it might make more sense for Apple to release several flavors of phones, diversify what they are selling, rather than lumping their entire strategy with one product that might have unforeseen problems. Technically they are:

Exactly as long as it took Dell and Asus to sell a cheap MP3 player and eat the iPod's lunch. Uh, when did that happen?

What really amazes me about OnLive is the interface. It's really a thin client: your entire interface is streamed from OnLive's servers. Since the UI is a video, they jam it full of movie clips. Reminds me of the video wall from Back to the

Wonderful list of quotes. I read DF a lot, often gritting my teeth, and this is an accurate summary of his points regarding the App Store. I agree on John's recent insistence that web apps are the solution to App Store woes. But that feels

I agree wholeheartedly with the inner conflict aspect, but I wonder about Gruber's inner hacker as it applies to the App Store. From his projects page, it seems that Gruber works on small command-line tools and extensions to other people's
