According to this book: https://www.amazon.com/Tankship-Tromedy-Impending-Disasters-... It is quite common and vessels often have outages that leave them Not Under Command. Usually they are safely at sea when this happens a

This isn't due to the dockworkers. This is due to everything after the cargo is offloaded. LA and Longbeach are a disaster because the rail network is incredibly mismanaged. Union Pacific has decided that they will only run unit trains

Ammonia has noxious fumes that burns the throat and eyes and is quite debilitating. If fumes leak the smell is the least of the worry.

I had a similar reaction seeing Logans Run as a kid on TV (it must have been edited pretty aggressively as the movie is very racy). I had no idea what I had watched but I remember this show about these people who are stuck inside a mall and

This is the real critique of the labor theory of value: Smith and Ricardo regarded nature as effectively infinite and the economy only being powered by people doing things. Sitting in the ground the coal has no value, when people dig it up

That's almost the wrong question. Self-delusion is a skill. The really good ones are good at convincing themselves that what they're saying is true. It's like the old George Costanza line: "Remember Jerry: it's not

BA used to have the 777s with 9-across seating. That was the best way to cross the atlantic in the main cabin of any airline.

Airline upgrades is a market for lemons. Even if you, say, buy an upgraded seat you may get sat next to a big guy or a rowdy child and then your seat sucks. Instead you have to pay much more (sometimes multiple times a main-cabin ticket)
