Yeah I've heard the same sentiment. I think people feel rude phoning because they feel rude ignoring calls, so if they call they're making the other party feel responsible for answering. This is silly of course.

> I would argue that the fact that you find SMS/phone calls a more urgent alert is a fault with your phone/communication setup Doesn't the asynchronous nature of an IM make it less urgent than a synchronous phone call?

It looks like someone threw a pinch of erlang in a Chef recipe. Like bash, but every English word operator has been replaced by space ships, angry squids, ternary operators, && all the other things that make code hard to read. But..

The behavior doesn't exactly switch on pipe detection though. The progress bar consistently shows when outputting to a file. $ curl news.ycombinator.com -o /dev/null % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time

Even so, I think GP's point is still valid in that it doesn't achieve that desired effect, but of course Reddit has those stats and I do not.

Indeed, though as I understand it, Lumina still bundles a file manager. How necessary is this? I don't have a good understanding of how e.g. Nautilus integrates into things like the file save dialog for Chrome.

Yet they chose different terminology for WoW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit), and chose to store 32-bit binaries in the WoW64 directory.

For me it's probably selfishness. I'm an infinite inboxer, who prefers synchronous communication (if any). If I need something, I'm going to walk up or call, and yet my door stays closed. So the two preferences aren't mu

I'm guilty of the same, and in fact our corporate AMI has selinux disabled. Not my choice, though I'm at least complicit in that I've not protested. Vendor supported apps are the biggest issue. If we have any issues, selinux

I've always used pv to get progress from dd, or other pipes: pv image.img | dd of=/dev/rdisk2 bs=1M This adds another pipe though. I don't know the effect this has on performance.

Why? Even with ECS the container's host is maintained by you . It's hardly more "serverless" (less serverful?) than just running docker on EC2.

What does FF do that can't be overridden? We have a WAP management page that uses an insecure DH cipher; Chrome and Firefox both blocked us, but only about:config in FF had an override.
