No idea. I thought of that question right after I posted it, as well. I'm assuming it does, but I should look into that. Like, if he quits paying the premium, does it just go away and then you're still screwed?

See my above comment. It was just luck that they didn't get to the Barclays money, and yeah that's probably also because Barclays is foreign that the luck happened. But I wouldn't count on that. If I hadn't moved quickly

I totally agree with this guy. At least, I mostly do. I'm not sure if I care if it goes away, but I've drastically cut back on my use of it mainly for the reasons he outlines. I think he's onto something.

Count me in the "Thank God I'm not a Firebase customer" camp, because that was my reaction on reading this news. I think Google is still a net force for Good in the world, but the fact that the reaction here is so more-or-les

FYI the Dallas hospital has now "walked back" this part of the story. They're no longer blaming it on the software: http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-dallas-ebola-h...

Fascinating. Also, if you read /John Dies at the End/ by Crack.com's David Wong, then you know that this malevolent being has a name: Korrock. Seriously, Roko's Basilisk == Korrock. Amirite?

True story: A few years ago, Google had screens in their lobbies showing real-time Google user searches as they came in over the wire. (I don't know if they still have this, since I haven't been there in about 2 years.) I was walk

This is a really, really naive response. There isn't really anyone on the trading floor anymore. ECNs have taken over, and account for 97% to 100% of trading volume on any given day. No one trades from the floor anymore. So no, there's no g
