I am really happy with this. I also like the variety of examples they're providing. Granted, the Mandelbrot Set ASCII-Art is not something I'd see myself using, it's pretty cool!

For your first sentence, I would rather say that they DON'T want to think when it comes to computer/maths/etc. "I don't like it, hence I'm not good at it." gives them an easy reason to avoid the problem.

I don't know how viable a crowd-funding campain can be for a smartphone. 1 year until delivery seems fair for the makers, but unfortunately the competition will during this time release new devices with better specs. Looks cool though.
