The battery life is crap. I honestly didn't think that $1300 was awful. Pricey, but not awfully pricey. And then I saw the battery life... only 5 hours =( If you want to delight the user with a mobile, battery life needs to be a priority. 5

Can someone explain to me why they even bundle this extra shovelware in with their JRE installer? Surely the revenue gained from this is a minuscule fraction compared to their total revenue. Plus, this can't be good for their brand. So, it

Admittedly, I don't write much C/C++ anymore, but for a recent project, I need to use C. I decided to try clang instead of gcc. When clang showed me exactly what the source (via colors and indicators) of my compilation error I immediately k

"Dropped all things fluid." What are the implications of this? I'm not a web designer, so does that mean that we have to have fixed-width pages? Won't that make it harder to design web apps? Will someone help to clear up my misunderstanding

Your worry is correct. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4896054 I've tried scraping with it, and it failed miserably on some sites.

zombie.js is not a full browser. It's a poor emulation using jsdom as its backing. http://zombie.labnotes.org/guts Beware, for some applications, jsdom is super buggy.

Am I alone in feeling what a person needs Evernote for? Sharing files? I use Dropbox. Clippings? I just use bookmarks. I downloaded it a couple of years ago, but what are the common use cases from the HN crowd? I visited their website and w

I wanted to chime in here to backup `flyingyeti's` point. If you slap a giant watermark on it (doesn't count as a hit against the free 5), then it encourages experimentation and interaction with the platform. I'd think you'd want this, as y

I'm not sure how they plan to compete with Macs? The price is definitely not competitive. I care about computing experience. When it comes down to it, I haven't found a better *nix workstation than my Macbook Pro. I love Ubuntu. I use it fo

When it comes to monkeypatching, this is one thing that JS and Ruby got wrong. C# got it right. It'd be great if you could monkeypatch in JS/Ruby in a module level scope vs a global scope. Good to see that Ruby is taking steps to remedy thi

I'm truly intrigued and curious... my startup Gitpilot ( http://gitpilot.com/ ) is trying to solve a similar problem. Was Wingman conceived from any inspiration of Gitpilot? Truly curious, especially because of the airplane naming scheme.
