For those that don't know, most probably do... but I would like to point out the irony in Zed's statement. He's most famously known for creating Mongrel [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongrel_(web_server) ], an open source HTTP server for R

You have to watch this TED talk where Lewis Pugh swam in the North Pole. It's fascinating. http://www.ted.com/talks/lewis_pugh_swims_the_north_pole.htm...

I know technical solutions are fun, but why not just practicing good ol' fashion self-control?

I disagree. You'll get a lot of people to signup with little conversions. Address the real issues the the grandparent presented: tell a story.

It's not that that's stressful, it's the potential possibility of failing the interview and perhaps not being offered the job that causes the stress.

I really hate to resort to name calling, as I realize it reduces the name caller's credibility... fuck it. Am I the only one that thinks this guy reads like a douche bag? "Mr. Fried", "The Pernicious Lack of Perspective (PLP) is metastasize

I wrote a whole response to this. http://techneur.com/post/703440900/beware-anecdotes In short: 1) A month isn't long enough. 2) Why did he scrap his code after 12 days? Why did he build UML diagrams? Sounds like a bit of over-engineering

While the point you make is true, the parent is correct. Beware of this company if you use their GXT product. They continually treat their GXT CUSTOMERS poorly.

You don't need a lawyer of LegalZoom to incorporate. Do it yourself, it's even cheaper. Just make sure to do due diligence in your operating agreement. DocStoc has a lot of template that you can reference. However, you should find a lawyer

I would venture to guess that 100k over a few years in Indonesia is pretty good money. Especially since it was part time too.

Great point. Most people can't even get over the fear of starting, as it's safe not to start - this way they can't fail.

Wow, great article. I've been trying to think of how I can effectively bootstrap my company in about six months or so. Originally, I kind of deluded myself of by thinking I could build a SaaS app and I would start getting customers. It's be

Articles like this are what we should find on Digg. I don't want to be that snooty bastard, even though I am.... I'm not sure how this is relevant to Hacker News? However, I'm impressed by the mature comments. Can we not turn into Digg?

I've done it. I consistently make over $2.5k a month selling iPhone apps. At my peak I made a little under $5k. It kinda sucks at times as it's not just one app. To be honest, most people would consider them shovelware, but if you actually
