Anything SaaS that solves a painpoints for established industries. Those that have billions of turnaround for decades already, are not good at building tech themselves, and buy solutions/services to run their business. Bonus for low ba

Assuming: 50 million files, assuming 4x concurrency per CPU, taking 1 second each, would take approx 150 CPU days. Using just 10 machines it could be done in 15 days. This does not fundamentally seem like a massive project in terms of compu

Voluntarily gave permission? Meta never asked anyone for permission to use the AI as training data! They just opted in every single user, via an update of their privacy policy. In order to opt out you have to discover that this is happening

That is a much lower complexity grade than I thought we would struggle with. Especially since we have decades of experience in solvers for rather large Boolean Satisfiability Problems, which seems like it could be adapted here.

According to the linked documentation, Figma is opt-in AI features for all plans, and AI training on all plans except for Organization/Enterprise. Regardless of whether people have indicated interest in such features or not.

Don't just jump ship. But do actively look for better opportunities if you are not satisfied where you are.

Keeping the GPUs feed is a actually a rather demanding job for deep learning training. I do not have experience with LLM/NLP, but for image and audio workloads one can struggle to reach full utilization of even a RTX2/3/4xxx

Informed and voluntary consent is the line. If Google wants to use my data for something - just ask, and let me decide. The companies right now are deliberately not asking, because they are afraid that not enough people are going to accept

Desktop OS like Windows one would also need to buy new versions of to get improvements. Nor did it require a periodic fee. But most importantly, the AI trying by default is changing the nature of the purchase/usage agreement, without c

Oceania was always at war with Eastasia... Just blaming public enemy of the day. Knowing who actually did it I difficult and not really important either.

Yes, you are right in that. However we are not yet seeing much uptake in very flexible compute that works only during high energy production. And while I would love to see it, I am not sure we will anytime soon. One reason is capital costs

Everyone else has to pay the price that data centers are willing to as well. And they can afford quite high prices before having margin troubles - likely much higher than what we as residents want to pay for energy.

I read some arguments that being friendly with Russia is a way for India to attempt countering China. Don't want Russias relations to be much better with China than with themselves.

The specialized chips may very well become commoditized over time. It is the way things go if the market is large and competitive enough - and that there is sufficient competitive advantage over the existing types of devices (GPUs in this c

Your original claim was that it requires an absurd amount of dependents. Having 2 dependents is rather common, and 3 not unheard of either. There are 10 million single parent households in the US, and 36% of them are in poverty. I am pretty

A single parent of three kids is considered a household size of 4, with a poverty line at 30k. That is basically the median full time salary in several professions in the retail and food industry.

Most ML engineers know that many want more fine grained control. But the straight forward way to train such models is incredibly data demanding. The datasets used for whole image generation consist of several billion images. I do not think

Very cool idea! The current outputs have a relatively simple effect though, not so far from a simple overlay where the blocks are "active". And the blocks which are not active get restored to the base image again. Maybe one could

Do some masking of curse words with sh t, ?!, verybad, or similar? Something that Claude will accept. It might work, if users are just generally badmouthed, not actively trying to trigger the model/system.

True, it works just fine. But doing non trivial things in a templating language never quite sat well with me. So I am trying out dominate as a way of just doing everything in Python. Jury is still out though.

Yeah it really is for tiny chips. It is fabulous learning experience though, which is also the purpose of the project. Maybe in a few years we will have Smalltapeout where we can do microcontroller/microprocessor grade in the same way.
