I'm not innguest, but I'm curious, why is this downvoted so much? I get that the idea is somewhat impractical, but at least it's original and creative, surely the kind of idea we want to encourage.

Yep, a good search term is "galvanic vestibular stimulation". Here's a good how-to: http://jap.physiology.org/content/96/6/2301

Application-wise :) Mostly I'm thinking that with cheap 3D-scanning sensors and GPUs, it's finally the beginning of the era for domestic and consumer robots to be viable.

You can start making money once you can get a customer's payload into low earth orbit. You want to achieve this initial revenue as soon as possible, by making the simplest orbit-capable rocket you possibly can, which would be a 2-stag

Gene overlap is extremely rare actually! When phiX174 was first discovered, some researchers wondered if such a complexly intertwined system could even have evolved naturally, or if it might suggest that the virus was hand-engineered: ht

Did their naive decompression make the genome longer? If so, it probably didn't fit in the capsid. In our version, we had to provide one of the genes (gene F) in a plasmid in the host cell, in order to reduce the length of the decomp

Hehe funny that you mention phiX174 in the context of programming, that virus is amazing... Part of the reason phiX174 is so small is that it is "compressed" by having overlapping genes; in one area, three genes overlap in the sa

That is not true; please be careful to do research before posting so you don't spread misinformation. If a light source is diffuse/omnidirectional, then it will be blurrier the farther it is from the distance your eye is focusing

Are you sure that action is always the application of knowledge? When a star gets old and goes supernova, I don't think it's really fair to say that it's because of knowledge or intelligence on the part of the star. Or when

In the past 20-30 years, automotive engineers have invented a lot of ways to make cars much safer (e.g. crumple zones). It sounds like you're saying the designers of self-driving cars will throw all of that expertise out the window --

Good point about the tool-making being labor intensive, I guess I really mean the tool design should happen in the USA so we learn that knowledge. Ideally a corporate campus could straddle the USA/Mex border and have some buildings
