It’s so bizarre. I wanted to use it for a menu extra and something as simple as animating the icon couldn’t be done. There are several of Apple’s own apps that use animated Menu extra icons and they’re probably doing the same hybrid AppKit&

I had a Canon scan cartridge around 1999. It was slow, but worse, it was very finicky about the printer cable being used - which at the time could be very expensive and were not included. It worked, but there was a clear linear pattern acro

Some of us do care. Devs should respect users systems more than their own instead of crapping all over them with Electron. I’d almost go as far as to say that it’s evil. Wasting resources, energy, people’s time, and money.

Yeah, that’s a really odd take. Git is completely usable apart from GitHub and I would wager that the majority of Git usage happens without GitHub. I personally have far more personal repos hosted on a NAS than anything in GitHub, and while

It’s possible, and some exist, it’s just less common now. Previously each preference category would take over the whole window. Now it gets a vertically oriented list. Previously all content fit within the window. Now all of the categories

I’m going to wager that the cutscenes are all XA audio/video DMA’d from the disc. Opening the disc kills the DMA and the error recovery is just to end the cutscene and continue. The program is in RAM, so a little interruption on readin

I think many games were that way. SotN definitely has a global timer. On a native 32-bit system it makes sense, especially when the life of a game was a few months to a few years on the retail shelf. No player is going to leave their system

Maybe NPM should hand pick popular packages and we should get away from this idea of every platform should always let everyone publish. Curation is expensive, but it may be worthwhile for mature platforms.

I don’t mind using a debugger, but one of the advantages to printed debugging is that it is universal. I work on a project with code in five languages (6 if you count the build system, 7 if you add shell scripts). Two of them I know the deb

It’s cyclical. People will stop seeing movies because they’re repetitive and dull. Who really wants to see the avengers again? Then some unexpected hit will pop up out of nowhere and make a ton of money and studios will fund all kinds of of
