Are they asking you to give them foo.com? Or just not use it as your domain/company name. Negotiate to keep it and setup terms that you'll phase it out and make it clear that it's not associated with Foo, inc.

I'd LOVE to see browsers support typographically correct hyphenation, it'd make narrow columns of text look sooo much better.

Eek, that'd be "typography".

May I ask why you chose Word as your comparison? It's not known as the paragon of typeography. :(

Exactly. What version of Photoshop dear HN reader was your first? Think about all the features that have been added since then and how hard it must be to maintain even a modicum of backwards compatibility.

> Another is to be clever. That's what startups do best... Amen to that. The fact that we give Twitter such a hard time about their growing pains is reflective of our growing "reliance" on them. Clever approaches to "mission-critical" a

I really appreciate the minimal "case" these are in. Saves material and makes the containers lighter.

Since they're running the PSUs near capacity. the batteries probably provide some additional headroom under heavy load spikes.

+1 for Authorize.net. Paypal's Website Payments Pro is good too. Consider the trade offs between better user experience if the payment process is on your site vs. not having to deal with PCI compliance with a hosted solution.

And here's a space in my area: http://www.bdcdevelopment.com/sbcenter.htm We looked into it, but found it too expensive so we got together and rented a large open-plan office that now holds five desks. Each share of rent is proportionate

It will definitely get your colors weird, but it has a one hour disable button for when you need calibrated color. How well is your monitor actually calibrated in the first place? ;)

But you can run it and click the disable for one hour button if you're popping into photoshop for a little while.

Data integration is a big factor. Basecamp doesn't use my LDAP directory. Nor does GMAIL. That's a big problem I see with the uptake of Web 2.0's SAS model in the corporate world - each app is a data island. Initiatives like OpenID or OpenS

I second Moo. However, I always have my professional designer create the cards and http://sbprintthis.com/ handles the printing. Unless you're a crack graphic designer yourself, there's not substitute for having them professionally done.

Very important point. That being said, it's not an one-or-the-other issue. I can do 100% of my UX/UI design in OmniGraffle and then implement it as black boxes on a white page and have a well thought-out easy to use site. On the other hand,
