I have no ideas how many times I'd have been fired if Slack did this. Let's just say my first pass on a message in the heat of the moment can sometimes be less than professional.

I'm curious, is the Moonlander enough of an upgrade over the EZ to be worth dropping that sort of money on a second keyboard? What are the big differences you've actually noticed having made the jump?

It really is amazing how far you can get by just dumping everything into a single database and letting people do joins. We’re doing the same thing with Stitch replicating data from production databases and a few SaaS products into a big Pos

Since you've explicitly asked for advice, the only way to assess remote employees is by what they're delivering. If you employ them for 40 hours a week, but they can deliver what you're asking in 5 and still be responsive whe

The same is true of Blue, the current iteration of the hardware, and I believe its because people who are into home automation enough to buy a dedicated Home Assistant box probably already have a bunch of hardware and opinions on whether th

Reading between the lines here, I guess the real question is “does this stuff work when not everyone is technically inclined”. When I first started working in home automation my boss at the time had a saying “if you have to press a button,

Room occupancy is something I’ve been playing with for several years, and I’m yet to find a really good solution to it. Having said that Hass has a Bayesian filter component which can give you a probability of occupancy based on a bunch of

That was coincidentally about the point I lost interest the series as it totally jumped the shark from “flawed but I can suspend disbelief” to “oh great, another series that’s going to build ever more tenuous conspiracy theories”.

I think you've summed up the biggest immersion breaker in that program for me. At some point a character mentions a cost of $40,000/day, which seems like a huge amount until you look at how much staff is needed to keep the park ru

I'm not convinced the target market is people who run their own data centres, those people are highly unlikely to migrate the control plane to AWS. To me the big target markets here are: * People running compute on AWS, but content dis

The big selling point for k8s vs ECS is that it (theoretically) allows you to lift and shift your cluster to another cloud provider without too much pain because load balancers/storage/etc sit behind an abstraction layer. When you
