I agree, but I’m definitely curious what you see as the biggest challenges given your extensive experience with Apple OS internals.

The restrictions are a starting point for improving system security, not an end point. I agree that the prompts are annoying, there need to be better ways to delegate permissions.

VM technology currently adds a lot of conceptual and computational overhead in most cases but there are examples of it being integrated more seamlessly. WSL 2 is a good one.

Yes, I'm aware. I've been programming in Elixir since 2014. I didn't intend to imply that being third-party means these are bad tools, they're not. They're great. But Go people often harp about how much stuff is in

I've never tried it but I think I've heard of it. Regardless, it's a third-party tool, so not at the same level of support as Go.

For me personally (not OP): I find Elixir more ergonomic, the networking stuff is very solid, soft realtime is the whole reason it exists, and I don't need single binary deployment because everything is going to be running in a contain

“Isomorphic to” in what sense? Surely you’re not claiming process-level isolation is as strong as a virtual machine. There are similar roles in both but the abstractions are pretty different.

I have to imagine using Signal with a high level clearance might itself arouse suspicion, for one thing. People inside the intelligence community really can’t expect much privacy for themselves.
