They're distinguishing between the web (DOM, browser space) and the internet. So the claim isn't that services will go away, it's that people will increasingly write apps instead of HTML.

Ahh, actually it's because of evolution that this happens. The idea is that some of the goats will stay behind so the rest of the herd (herd of goats?) can get away.

IMO, the island archetype is probably the most productive. At least in my experience, IM/Outlook/Thunderbird really kills what I can get done. And the corporate emails...
