Your problem is not with setTimeout, you need to learn how to write evented code because that is how javascript works and you're going to encounter this problem in different contexts. Passing in a closure to setTimeout usually suffices thou

You need to learn javascript the language whether or not you use jQuery. You do not, however, need to learn the DOM API if you decide to use jQuery (which I recommend)

I'm not sure why : has been chosen as the canonical fork bomb function name, but it's more readable with something like resurse() { recurse | recurse &}; recurse

The story isn't really about yahoo, though. Yahoo is not in the title or the url, isn't prominently displayed on the page, and only mentioned in a few comments. I didn't even realize it was from yahoo until I read your comment and I saw the

I'm an alumnus of Simon's Rock and highly recommend it. I went in thinking I would get my AA and transfer but I stayed for my BA. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the school. It's technically still considered dropping out of high

I would enjoy this, but I don't have any particular reason to meet with you guys. Are you looking mainly for people who are interested in photos?

I just completed it, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes or so. There's no real hacking involved, it's mostly just using a tool like firebug.

Anyone know of a good resource for developing rails 3 plugins? Like the blog post mentions, rails has yet to update their plugins guide so I've had to resort to trying to piece together how it works by reading various posts like this one.

When I built my PC, I was having a problem hooking up my optical drive so I thought "I just want this to work now, I'll hook up the optical drive later". It's been over a year later and I still haven't connected it.

Basically the game is a really enjoyable way of spending hours and hours collecting resources and using them to create giant buildings and structures. It's a lot of fun but you're still sinking a huge amount of time on it. Sure, I had fun b

How is this different from their existing book on git? What's the difference between "Pragmatic Guide to Git" and "Pragmatic Version Control Using Git"? I'm assuming the latter is aimed more towards people without version control experience

This is a bit tangential to the main point of the story, but I was a student at the school that was torn down the author mentioned. It's sort of an interesting story, you can read more about it at [1]. I think it was mostly politics, it too

I don't think swombat was trying to argue that. It seemed to me like he was just using it as an example of another plausible, though not necessarily true, explanation for the data. The article says that "Statistics show X, obviously Y is th

This is all spot on. The art of making the perfect cup of tea is fairly analogous: buy fresh, loose leaf tea, pour the right temperature water over the right amount of tea for the right of time, and then enjoy some great tea.
