Maybe that sweet spot is joining a funded startup, possibly at a very early stage? It seems like equity for early employees is on the rise, so that could become a pretty good version of the sweet spot (less equity, more cash). Also - don&#

Why not use the pixel values themselves to encode the data? Each pixel's RGB can encode three characters (one for each byte value). The resulting image would be much smaller. (Not sure how twitter might alter the image though, which

Tim, if we're dumb enough to join your autocratic platform, then we're certainly dumb enough to not care about our personal data.

The real issue isn't wages - it's cost of living. If we really want to make people's lives better, we need to address whatever causes prices to increase (limited housing supply is probably the biggest culprit).

I believe what you describing is the ability to predict the future. Nobody can do it perfectly, but experience can increase your odds of being correct.

URLs have a tendency to end up in logs. Unless you are careful in your implementation (including what you inherit with your 'stack'), you may end up inadvertently persisting keys. EDIT (btw, I love the concept of your product)

I'm starting to believe that debt is the wrong metaphor. Imagine you have 1k in debt and 2k in the bank. You're free to pay down that debt, so you do. If you later realize that you actually need that 1k used for the debt, you c

Most of the returns come from a few big hits. The essay needs to address why there would be none of those (I say none, because there are already so few that 'less' seems moot).

With hosts in 34k cities (from article), airbnb probably has more employees if we classified hosts as such. Also, many hosts hire of cleaners. It's quite possible that ~500k people are earning income (directly or indirectly) related

Question: why didn't any of these issues prevent the web from taking over the desktop during the years between 1995-2005? Native has always been faster and more feature rich, on every platform and at every point in time.

In the context of this article, a big portion of the risks and costs are supported by national health care (Obamacare). If these gig workers had to acquire health care via the old means (i.e. benefits from a corporation, or hoping an insur

The mistakes you listed make it sound like you're trying to move too fast. Moving fast is good when it comes to product development. But not on the business side. Just focus on these two things: 1) Find a few users who love the pr

This is a case of the 'higher order bit'. Housing costs have increased to the point where other costs are negligible by comparison. The ratio of <cost-of-non-housing-good> to rent will of course be low.
