How about an option where the user enters their credentials once per day (or however often they like), directly feeding the polling process, so that their credentials aren't stored?

Another counter argument: When you target earlier in the funnel, you're less sure of winning that user. Example: you buy a banner ad promoting a digital camera. The user sees it, and decides it's time to buy one. Now he does research, and

If brand advertising on content sites is under valued, isn't that a big opportunity for brands to buy valuable ad space on the cheap? The author doesn't explain why the market is wrong (I'm of course skeptical, because markets aren't wrong

A tidbit of advice I got from a startup lawyer is that you want to provide value throughout the company's life. Apparently a lot of angels get screwed down the road (post VC) because they are no longer playing a big role. The founders, ho

Easier said than done. In the long run, I don't see humanity surviving if it doesn't figure out how to keep smart, disgruntled people in check.

If the founding team wants a fair price, they need the option to sell to a non-Google company. I don't think Google would be happy selling its internal projects to Microsoft.

Chicken and egg problem - because of the high barrier to angel investing, you are right that most investments are probably larger. But would they necessarily be so high, if more people were legal (especially hackers who could be good contr

The problem is that most people earning over 200K/year in salary are not part of the startup community (what kind of startup pays that kind of salary?). They're probably too scared to invest, and rightfully so. On a side note, your comment

Regarding the employee saving 10K to invest - it's fine for an employee to invest in the company he/she works for. However, since that company already has employees it stands to reason that 10K is probably not going to buy much equity. If

The bubbles seem to exist regardless of what we do; the fact that they've been around for hundreds of years suggests it would take more than a few laws to suppress them.

If you want a founder, pick someone you already know and trust. The next best thing is to hire someone, and down the road promote them to effective founder status.
