To be fair, I don't mind people talking about Rust. What I dislike the most are those that don't bring anything to the table, they will just repeat the same complaints over and over again and remind you how bad of a choice C++ is.

Bucharest is great nowadays if you would like to relocate to Europe. Cheap living, salaries on par with Western Europe, access to good education if you want to pursue interests further, good private healtchare, transporation. Some of the co

To be honest, the investment into Flutter pales in comparison to Android (mobile, TV, ChromeOS, etc.). Flutter has always been a side project.

I believe that once value types will be adopted by the JVM, operator overloading proposal for Java will be imminent. Meanwhile, there's actually a way to introduce operator overloading into your Java codebase today, the compiler plugin

I'm not questioning the growth of China. I'm only interested in its sustainability and its ability to innovate, to bring a new Apple, Tesla (not an anti-Apple, or an anti-Tesla) in the world or to contribute to the knowledge body

Are expensive office buildings and high end transportation an indicator of an innovative country? They can definitely act as infrastructure to support innovation but it remains to be seen.

Some people are just masochistic or they just want to distract themselves by solving problems that have already been solved by Spring circa 10 years ago. Most of them don't even use the technology that they preach around here, it'

Linux itself is written in C, though everything runs on it. Who cares about the language that Kubernetes is written in (by the way, it used to be Java but it was changed politically to Go)? If you are writing Java/Scala you can use Gra

Cmon, you can't be serious, do you really recommend Play, Micronaut, etc. over Spring ecosystem? Also if you want the benefits of GraalVM you can stay in the ecosystem today with Spring Native, moreover if you are ideologically against

My 2 cents, I've abandoned custom ROMs (circa 2015) because many financial apps that I was using were very anxious when it came to my OS and they stopped working. Even multiplayer games stopped running and required me to use a stock ve

Freedom does not translate into gun ownership. That's a very leftist/right-wing thing to say. Seems like people have been hardwired by the media to only think about America in terms of gun violence. When a Yakuza mobster terrorize

Why would you give up on freedom and live in a society as rigid (not in a derogatory sense) as Japan's? I'm also European, but I would rather live in US than in Japan. I believe opinions on US differ in Europe, you should have sa

I would have imagined that in game dev you prototype first with a high level language and then you would write the math code. How much of game dev is actually math code, aside from critical components like rendering, physics, etc.?

That's nice, at UPB in Bucharest we use for the OS course C and for the distributed systems one Go/Java, though the DS one involves heavy theory/math and less coding but implementations in Go/Java are a big bonus. I don&

Why would you need operator overloading in a low-level language? It's not like you are gonna write Jupyter notebooks with it. Zig is not meant to replace MATLAB, Python or Julia. I would use it instead to build the backbone of such a d

I share your view partially. As you said, code generation is difficult and it can get messy pretty fast, but this is the beauty of Zig, you have these features tightly packed, there is a capped number of ways for doing things. In Zig you le
