In NYC you can't even dine indoors. Is there really a big risk of eating maskless at a table, outdoors, separated by plexiglass (or 6 feet apart), in a city where the COVID infection rate is so low? Or serving those customers?

How is this an even better deal? About the same amount of pay, half the healthcare paid (COBRA healthcare is same plan). As for recall rights and release from non-competes, these are slightly better than nothing I suppose.

How do you avoid leaking business logic into database stored procedures? Sounds like you would now have two sources of truth, application logic, and database stored procedures.

Is a pay-as-you-go pension really a smart option if your #1 product/mandate (first class mail) is at total risk of becoming irrelevant in the near-term?

Meta point: does it seem like conservative posts on HN are constantly downvoted nowadays? Previously downvotes were saved for the topics that don’t contribute anything to the discussion.

I agree they probably stop caring about their tax bill because they are billionaires. I find it disingenuous however to then look down the income ladder to people earning more than $1 million and including them in your “we don’t pay enough

The fact that it's a paid for trip is why it is worth mentioning, not necessarily the length. Five weeks of vacation, while not very common, is common enough that it's not really worth writing about otherwise. Edit: Agreed that 5

Not the op, but in NYC walking in and out of the subways is annoying... takes the phone sometimes a minute to re-connect to the cell network. In prior phones w/Qualcomm modems the experience was much faster.

One time I had jet lag and went to the neighborhood diner (in NYC) a bit on the earlier side, like 5 AM or so. For a random Tuesday morning it was interesting to see all sorts of people walk in after a night out (on a Tuesday morning no les

Setting aside the fault of the vehicle in this case, why didn't she get out of the way? Would she not have seen the car coming at 38 MPH?

First, I don't really think there is a shortage of college degree-earning people in this country. Second, your plan is just a giveaway to colleges... they can charge whatever they want as gatekeepers to visas earned in the USA.
