not the same thing at all. Different userspace that may or may not be that efficient at power, as well as well tested power management in the kernel for specific devices.

It did and was, it was just something that built up over time as more and paper cuts and small things got fixed. So even if it didn't feel like things were changing, they were. I've been "gaming" on linux for a long time

that just pushes away the problem ,it doesn't solve it. I still hit that limit when i ran a big compile while some other programs were using a lot of memory.

Swappiness and many others can be changed by some sort of system preset rather built that way. I know not ALL options can be done that way, but I'd want to see changes start there where feasible.

i don't have a problem recommending people use bazzite because of the nature of the whole system. It makes it harder for regular users to break it, while making it easy(er) to rollback.

100% agree. Why would they adopt it if it doesn't pass the upstream test suite. I assumed that would be required before even considering it! I was expecting that they would be concerned about bugs in the untested parts!
