How many terminal apps do you know of that have 50,000 items with a scroll wheel? This is what I meant by 0.001%.

You seem to be concerned over a non-issue: I'm pretty sure you're the only person in this entire discussion who misinterpreted the graph. Does that mean the people you're talking about are yourself? :P

How would performance be a concern for rendering the UI of a terminal app? Surely that happens in less than 0.001% of all cases. And of course no one in their right mind is implementing the core functionality of their app with react state

Is it really that hard for you to intuit the intent that it's a graph that slopes upwards?

I don't really agree with this. I go and hang out with my friends, and we don't all end up getting outraged about stuff. I go for a walk in the park and no one is shouting at me; I go to a restaurant and people are sitting around

The claim that VSCode was just an editor seemed flimsy the day it was released. Now, it is absurd.

That's a great point, I didn't even think of that. I would use error types as well, yes.

I don't know. I really don't see any clarity improvements between, `user.password.length >= 8 && passwordRules.every((rule) => rule.test(user.password))` and `validatePassword(password)`. What if you want to add that

I remember when I was a kid, the doctor thought that my blood pressure was too high. Of course, I was just anxious because I knew they were going to give me a shot. What kid wouldn't be?? He took it again after I got the shot and it we

The reason I bring it up is because web-dev often ends up being an extremely long sequence of small tweaks. "Hmm, did that make the modal go on top of the sidebar? [save] no? [save] did that? [save] how about that? [savesavesavesavesav

Something about OP didn't strike me quite right, but your explanation here really nails it, I think. Especially because I can see that I'm in quite an old JS cohort - and quite happy with the language as a result - but if I were t

The article strongly implies this. > These days, the same scenes are dominated by Chinese and Indian kids. But China and India have large populations — the Russians were punching way about their weight, demographically speaking.

Sure, but if YouTube makes up say 20% of culture, that's 20% of conversations they cannot participate in. I'd love to read any source that says that "missing out" on making friends is actually a good thing.
