Now tell <strike>East Texas</strike>Delaware that... Edit: honestly, the idea of having the software patents disgrace/mess untangled seems hopeless by now. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of seismic event

It is absurdly annoying. It's the one thing that put me off golang development, despite all of its nice aspects relating to concurrency. Having custom functionality in editors to work around this apparently dogmatic design decision i

Funnily enough: I've never found that to be a big problem with other languages in practice. Actually, on a scale of problems in other people's code I'd probably put this very far down the list.

This is hostile behavior towards a new developer trying out golang. Any third-party tools aren't really going to fix that.

Or pick a language where you don't have to jump through arbitrary hoops.

You mean have the compiler modify the source code files destructively? Then I'll have to disagree, that just doesn't make sense.

My main wish: Please don't refuse to compile just because there are unused imports. Please do warn, and loudly say it's NON-CONFORMANT or whatever will embarass me enough from sharing my piece of Go code with someone else.. but.

There is such a thing as a too big font. I think it happens when you feel like you physically have to move back from the screen to comfortably read the text.

Maybe no-one ever made that call, and it's all just based on the results of continously running automated and fuzzed A/B experiments.

I guess you didn't get my snark, but sure, it was a bit obtuse. :) Don't you think you're a bit overly certain that it's caused by random geological activity? How do you know that?

A car that can only drive at 130 km/h would be turn-off in many regions where the legal speed limit is lesser. There is such a thing as overtaking other cars safely (e.g. overtaking a car that drives 100 km/h on a 120 km/h ro

This (implied or not) seems to be the premise of many of these fads. On the flipside: I think TDD is great for people who love writing code more than they love getting results. They get to write twice as much code!

Akamai Edge Compute appears to be a "talk to us for pricing, and we'll then attempt to extract the maximum amount of money that we think you'll be able to pay" kind of deal. No thanks.

In Sweden the cut-off/switch time is 10:00. It has been this time for a very, very long time.

I always wondered what kind of reasoning was behind that 10 am cutoff-point. Who the heck wants to eat a burger before, say, 11 am?

I really wish Sweden hadn't caved to what was presumably US pressure back in the 60s and halted the nuclear weapons program. a) As a nation we are responsible enough to handle this kind of responsibility. b) The leftist leanings here h
