That's indeed possible. But really, if you were to guesstimate the ratio of GPU usage between these items sold to consumers that end up being used by: a) AI/startups b) gamers what would you guess? My guess is somewhere between 1:

Really, I would be equally happy to have them remove my Uber account altogether. Except it's equally cumbersome and non-obvious. There are no immediate actions to do it from within the App or the website: http://www.wikihow.

I'm in the EU and I was not able to remove before doing that trick with a virtual CC. What country are you in? (I'm in Sweden.) It's quite possible that officials/bank people in your country made noises about this and th

I was just discussing this with a former co-worker. [Here in Europe.] Also: I'm pretty certain that if you had a history of using dark patterns.. that would be seen as basically fraudulent behavior here. Investors would stay far away.

Thanks for the tip, that may be useful in the future! I ended up using my bank's "virtual credit card" service to create a virtual CC with a balance of 1 SEK to get rid of my Uber account. Anyway, I think this is shameful of

My pet peeve: If you add a credit card to the Uber app there is no way to remove it without replacing it with another valid payment method. If you google solutions to this you get third party recommendations to plead with their customer ser

They had very smart but quite junior engineering management. There was a lot of political pressure from investors etc to match the effort of a local competitor - who had sort-of (naturally they missed all the good, non-obvious bits) cloned

In my experience: Yes, they are emulating at least parts of SV startup culture. Except that they hire hundreds of people where an American or European company would hire 20-30 people. My guess is that the thinking is that they'll be ab

Up until very recently Netflix has been saying that offline viewing is not something they want. Maybe they were just doing a Steve, though.

Does anyone know if e.g. Google's Widevine or Apple's FairPlay support the concept of applying DRM to downloaded files? If they do, they should be able to get this to the web version of Netflix. (Laptop screens are great for watch

Why do you think the GCHQ is publishing stuff that appeals the developers/hackers rather than just being secretive? Of course it's similar to a corporate branding exercise. There's a hard fight for tech talent these days.
