Don't want the fittings to burst in freeze. Also while PEX can survive being frozen, I have not seen much about total number of cycles it might sustain before weakening. Edit: Also I want to be able to drink water in winter.

I've only shopped there once, and I wonder if this is subconciously why. (More likely something to do with revision control I suppose.)

From the perspective of a DO user or a Viasat user? As more the latter than the former, I simply am prepared to use a VPN for any/all traffic at any time when using Viasat. I have seen their transparent http proxies break when accessin

Interesting we made similar control boards! You need to take into account efficiencies of getting the cold into the fridge too. It takes around 10-15 hours of runtime to cool the thermal mass down from 5 to 0.5 degrees C (at 14C exterior te

Using this in a disaster recovery situation is one possibility I've considered, since these are increasingly parts that people have on hand or that are much easier to get distributed.

That was my original plan, but I went with the simplest possible thing before trying it, and so far the simpler plan has worked.

Or add a small heating element, but it's not been necessary so far, it would probably need a full week below zero to freeze. I do some minor adhoc regulation by putting leftovers in the fridge when they're still piping hot on cold

I was a big fan of ultra pasteurized when I was using a very poor propane fridge. But I'm finding I can keep non-UHT for 2 weeks or more in summer in fridge0 when it's the same 0.01-0.5C as the thermal mass.

uhubctl's home page has a list of supported hubs. Apparently Amazon's house brand usb hub ("Amazonbasics") currently supports it, so it seems currently easy to find one. I happened to have earlier purchased an industrial

Single git repositories do not need to scale to a million issues or comments. It've used git as a database very productively, at well beyond that scale. https://joeyh.name/blog/entry/databranches/

I've thought about trying to add that eventually, but I think I would need a weather forcast with insolation data and also some modeling of when the sun goes behind trees/hills at different times of the year. Anyone know a good in

Batteries are one of the most expensive parts of an offgrid PV system once you start looking at prices over decades. My 1.5kw solar panels and electronics cost $2k (self-installed) and will last 20+ years. To run the fridge on demand from b

A complication that my blog post doesn't touch on is that the fridge is sharing the same solar panels that power the rest of my house. I want a good battery charge and a cold fridge, and I want the right tradeoffs to be made in non-ide

Yep, and the actual kWH per day with the fridge has so far been in the range of 1-2, and bear in mind that also runs everything else in my house including a rather energy hungry satellite modem.

I hope that the DSL evaluator can statically determine the oldest historical value that the code will use and avoid keeping unused historical values around? FRP has a more general purpose way to do that kind of thing; a behavior can accumul

The possibility that a Github TOS change could force a change to the license of your software hosted there, and that it's complicated enough that I'd have to hire a lawyer to know for sure, makes Github not worth bothering to use.
