That's a fair point. The raid seemed to have been fairly quick, efficient and polite (compared to other raids I've read about). So, combine that and the fact that nothing was seized, and it sounds to me like the police were just c

I've always flip-flopped on grasping the Monty Hall thing (sometimes I'd think I understand, other times not so much)... but this little guessing game really clarified it for me, once and for all. Thanks!

Is this a common bug? Were you seeing it in some kind of developer release, perhaps? I've never had that happen to me, and I browse Youtube in Safari every single day.

Indeed. I'm not really sure why the author went with "the complexity of the web" is the real culprit. It was google, and specifically this guy's team, that was at fault. They put auto-playing sound on one of the most pop

This seems ok for really simple invoices, maybe with just one or two line items. But anything more complex than that and it would seem foolish not to use a spreadsheet, I think. I'd get annoyed having to do the math myself.

As far as I understand it, the money that was transferred out did not come from nowhere... Ultimately it was the bank's money. Edit: Meant to also mention also that the whole making-it-look-like-an-account-had-more-money concept was ab

To be fair, LaTeX has a more complicated method of processing text since it considers a lot of typographic issues that browsers do not, so it has to be slower than a browser when rendering text. That said, I don't know enough to say wh

In addition to incentivizing the re-use of cards, there's another good reason no one seems to have pointed out: the MTA needs money to keep the fares as low as $2.50. They have a history of not making enough money, and everyone in NYC

To be pedantic, the article mentions that he's using "the Windows command line", and not Bash. So Powershell's non-cross-platformness does not seem to be breaking his goals any more than that.

I apologize for the confusion, but I meant the official Amazon appeal that you can do when you're kicked off. It's a one-shot thing, and his description of the appeal said that he tried to ask for more details and state that he ha

I work for a book store that sells roughly 40,000 items on Amazon (some but not all of those via FBA), and since I've been in charge of the Amazon sales, I've had our account "permanently" shut down several times. Each t

I'm extremely skeptical that this mic/amp/audio thing is actually the case. First and foremost, Apple's iPods have (for quite a while) reserved a few pins on their dock connector for audio out, so I'd be surprised if the iPhone did not do t

All those questionable examples and not one mention of search engines? I'd argue that search engines are a much much bigger threat to URLs than all of the author's examples combined. (You don't need to know a URL if you can just search for
