I think it had a comparable (or even better?) percentage of the market, though probably fewer actual units.

I don't think the comparison is a joke, considering they mentioned these differences in the article. Edit: out of curiosity, what are the more comparable products they omitted?

That feels like the realm of a plugin, IMO. (I don't know enough to know whether or not that type of thing could be done via plugin, though.)

There are a lot of articles out there arguing that the web wasn't designed with modern web apps in mind, and that that's a source of a lot of strife, so you're not alone in this feeling. But there's also a lot of article

Not sure I understand why that changes the entertainment value. I personally think it was an elaborate obscure hoax, but I would have loved to have been there.

I disagree. Even if Soames were indeed transported into the future for a bit, it hardly proves anything about the Devil. Merely that someone _claiming_ to be the Devil did this.

I interpreted the assignment to be to show up there and see what happens. But what you've said could indeed be true. While I think the implication is there, it's hard to say whether that implication is an actual admission or just

I'd be very willing to bet that the same qualities that drive someone to use a crude username may cause that person to be less desirable in several aspects of professional life.

I'm thinking that if they still let you tap to select what to base the brightness on in this mode, they might be able to extend that to the focus so that it can work with non-face photos. Keep the part you tap on in focus (and anything

Thanks. I don't watch the presentations anymore, so I hadn't heard about that. I think you're right that it's reasonable to be skeptical, but it may also just prove to be an implementation detail. But with the info we ha

Out of curiosity, what is it about Apple's lightning-to-3.5mm adapter that people find so much more repulsive than the 1/4"-to-3.5mm adapter that so many better-than-cheap-earbud headphones come with these days?

Except it's still a simple solution for two reasons: 1) if you get the phone you get an adapter to let you use all 3.5mm headphones 2) many many many other people will have the same phone, so you'll be able to borrow their headpho

While that's unfortunate for you, I'd be willing to bet most iphone consumers just use the included earbuds for their phone, and don't really have any other use for headphones. Keep in mind that you, and even most HN readers,

Max/MSP has been very successful, though it's specialized for the music/visuals world. Given the text-based alternatives in that realm (csound, supercollider), it's not surprising.

This practice is common in digital marketplaces. For instance, Amazon doesn't allow Marketplace Sellers (people who aren't Amazon but sell goods on Amazon.com) to: - link to a non-Amazon webpage - provide buyers with a phone numbe
