The You Don't Know Jack series are (or can be) kind of like this, to a degree. Party games that use a single game system or computer to direct things and show results, but for the individual games you usually have to do something on yo

Note the caption of that picture specifically says it's not a picture of the sinkhole that the article is about.

I don't like it when non-git tools do that by default. I'm sure it's nice for some people, so make it an option that could be enabled. But to have that behavior by default feels far too opinionated for me.

Plus, building on this, the article mentions Van Tran having a 3 person team to make a game. On a team that size, the one women on the team has a much bigger influence than the one women on a larger (and sometimes MUCH larger) team that

Note that, at least in the case of this article, the topic of "female representation in games" isn't just about women having jobs in the industry, but also about making games featuring women. Both of these aspects are what I&

Female representation in video games sure feels to me like an ongoing problem. Is it better now than it used to be? Yes. Is it no longer an issue? No. I don't think anyone's arguing that there's zero female representation. Th

That's kind of a big assumption, IMO. Why does it need symbols? Perhaps a hypothetical alien species has an analog clock that keeps track of times with shades of color. Or audio tones. Or it uses a gauge, but the gauge vibrates and the

Same for me. My house had loads of analog clocks when I was growing up, I had one for a watch for over a decade, but still it was always a little bit harder to figure out than digital for me.

Counter example: I grew up using 12-hour time and still do to this day, with plenty of analog clocks all around, and yet I find it much easier and faster to convert between 24-hour and 12-hour time (just remove the leading 1 and subtract 2,

Thanks for speaking up about this from a perspective not often seen here on HN. It's really pretty weird that someone needs to explain to so many people that media piracy affects actual working people.

What all the people disagreeing with you are ignoring is the work and skill that goes into the product design. It takes a lot of iteration, which means lots of prototypes, which means lots of time and money spent just developing the product

As a fan of hidden movement board games, I definitely like this. With some of the feedback/suggestions other people have already noted, this could end up being really great. I definitely think the control could use a bit of work.

Using vim has nothing to do with ones ability to troubleshoot compiler/ubuntu issues. Plus both compiler and ubuntu issues can be massive PITA to solve even if you're familiar with them. Personally, if I'm trying to install s

I don't think the CSSWG should care one bit about Sass's syntax. Just use if...else if that's what makes sense (and I think it does make sense). Sass is interpreted into CSS, so CSS is the authoritative language, and Sass is

Most of that "$10,000" is because of paying someone else for custom parts. If you use existing parts or make the custom parts yourself (if you have the ability/tools), it's less than $100. So the software equivalent woul

I personally had no problem interpreting the title correctly, but I see that it could be interpreted as the heat seeking missiles are the countermeasures against something else. Not sure it warrants being changed, though.
