While there may be some important technological differences here, from an end-user perspective they already achieved this 5 years ago ( https://blog.chromium.org/2013/02/chrome-app-launcher-develo... ), removed it 3

We've stuck with Grails for a few years now and I still prefer it over vanilla Spring Boot. Things like JSON views and GORM are still really nice to have.

I like the ambition. I've had a tinfoil-hat theory for a while that phone hardware is only built to last roughly 1.5 - 2 years gnerally before they physically begin to degrade. I've flashed new roms to a Galaxy S3 but it tended to

I'm a huge fan of Grails, but this definitely interests me. Spring Boot has come a long way. Groovy is still a great language (as far as being approchable from Java) but Kotlin looks like a lot of fun.

I agree. I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 currently. A kernel upgrade hosed my setup yesterday, and having an older kernel available saved my butt. I was able to do another `apt-get update` and things eventually worked with the latest kernel.

Excellent work! Kind of funny the article mentions > This will break the web. But apparently blogger requires javascript just to render static content.

GORM in Grails uses optimistic concurrency control by default, which is how I learned about the issue in the first place.

I'd like to do some cost projections. When will this (along with the db.t2.medium instances) be added to the simple monthly calculator?

Assuming they drop support for the Chromecast add-on, doesn't this effectively eliminate the ability for other browsers that can use chrome extensions to cast to a Chromecast? (e.g., Opera, Vivaldi, maybe Chromium)?

Just wanted to say congrats. When I used it for another job back in the day it solved some real problems for us. The community forums were immensely helpful as well. I'm glad to see the project is still around and actively developed!

How easy is it to temporarily switch it off if a site is broken? Like if they have some crucial JS/CSS served from a blocked domain? I also wonder this with the hosts file approach. Is that kind of flexibility you give up for speed?

Seems pretty helpful, though for most of my endpoint testing I've switched to httpie[1], and my teammates have followed. The only exception is when I need to load-test a service real quick, and curl can make requests much faster than h

I think they're meant to solve different problems. On one hand S3 is designed for (among other things) serving files over the web. EFS sounds like it's designed to be used as a filesystem multiple instances can write to (say for a

We're contemplating moving our static image files (JPG/PNG) from an EBS volume to serving them from an S3 bucket (so we can deploy a HA setup). It sounds like it would be a lot less code if we used EFS instead. Would you guys reco

I'm sure if they do the fallback implementation could just as easily be OpenStreetMap. It's really great to see this open-sourced though. It seems like it would be a common problem.

It's plugin-free if you use their own browser (chrome/chromium). So I have to assume there's something non-standard going on or else Firefox wouldn't need a plugin.

We use it for its outstanding grails support, so we're already paying for it. If it can keep up with Android Studio I can get away with using only IDEA instead of IDEA + Android Studio.

I keep going back and forth between Firefox and Chrome. Chrome is ahead right now for two reasons: 1. Support for Netflix on linux 2. Webapps as native applications (like the old project prism). We use slack at work and a Chrome webapp is h

Looks beautiful. Our workflow however requires us to view multiple projects under one backlog/workboard. I can't seem to find a way to do that, which is a bummer because this is a really neat looking tool.
