When our first son was born 17 years ago I was making $10/h. My wife got WIC, and used medicaid. We told the government that she lived with her mom and that I was a deadbeat. We needed the help, and my low-wage job would have been proh

This is interesting in that I look at all the crap my kids have and was thinking the exact opposite. I had a handful of things. A few games. A few outfits. These kids have piles of stuff (alongside their laptops, smartphones, and consoles).

The slides read great, and the concepts are important. It's something I'm personally intrigued by[1]. Very interested in Cycle and your experiments. Thanks! [1] https://github.com/joelhooks/react-rxjs-angular-

Pete is legit. His book is fantastic and helped me build a subscription service (egghead.io). I'm a big fan of Nathan's work too.

I've got 4 kids, 16-7, none of which have ever been to school. The only thing we require them to do is read and learn. The subjects don't matter. The oldest likes philosophy and science. My 12 year old enjoys video production and

Taking luck out of the equation was a primary reason for not sending any of our kids to school. You are right, you are lucky.

Hopefully they'd consider this a blessing for uncovering what would surely be a miserable long-term partner.

"what about retirement" is a common question. I suppose a valid one if you are considering the "work until 65 and then stop" approach to life. Sounds really shitty to me. There is a concept of "micro-retirements&quo

In my experience with Angular, both in the capacity of using it and teaching it, is that there is this huge amount of rote facts that need to be absorbed. THAT is the "steep learning curve" that people talk about. Directives, for

My blanket statement regarding the precious waste of time children are coerced into is not limited to government schools. A little hyperbole! I went to school, and also have a job.
