I loved watching this talk — After watching this I gained a new level of appreciation for the VC model they pioneered.

About 4 years ago, I found this credit card on the street in Pittsburgh when I was walking home. When I got home, I just emailed the persons firstname.lastname@gmail.com. They actually responded and I walked back to near where I found the

Is there any way that the numbers could work out? Let’s say SoftBank is able to trim the company to the bare bones; Does the We Company still make money at high gross margins? I wonder if it makes more sense to cut losses, as opposed to pum

I did not see the connection, but I think private market investors did. They saw that if you could sell web ads (Google) or sell mobile ads (Facebook) at zero marginal cost to each additional advertiser, you'd have a company worth 10x

When I joined Amazon in 2014, there were ~120,000 microservices. A lot of them arne't used or just hello world tests apps. Every new employee had to spin one up during orientation.

I was reading this blog post by Fred Wilson last night and I think this unlocked a key insight for me[1]. WeWork (Uber, Peloton, Lyft, AirBnB, etc...) are not software companies. None of these businesses sell software, they use software t

I have USAA and they are pretty bad as well. Max password length is 20 characters. They only do MFA through cell phone numbers and email which allows someone to Sim-Swap if they are able to get your username and password. To top it off, the

I totally agree with this and this is actually something that my Engineer Brain and Product Brain are constantly in conflict about. I ran gitignore.io for 6 years and it was not "hard" to run. It was two commands on a web server.

I think the points in the post are valid, but there are also things about GNU that are terrible as well. It's just that nobody is wiring GNU faults. If someone did a write up, I would expect that person to own their work as well.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think when you start a franchise, the model is that you pay an huge up front price for being able to use the brand. I think that's kind of what the New York taxi license model is; Pay $1,000,000, no
