These things keep getting harder to resist, and I'm a Windows user. Can anyone tell me if it's true that Windows on boot camp doesn't take advantage of all of the power saving features, and so doesn't last as long? And if so, how big is the

That's pretty sad. My only real complaints about the Cr-48 were the low-quality screen, the trackpad, and the performance. Looks like they hit two out of three, but, like the review says, for $430 I expect more.

I love this gesture, and I wish phone OSs made more use of the screen edges this way. I find it to be very easy and natural to reach above the top of the screen and pull down. It requires no precision at all.

Can you explain how the cost of trying another service is high? If you hear about another search engine that's supposed to be better, it seems easy enough to try it for a few searches or compare results. Seems like plenty of people tried Du

I think it's relatedly interesting that Google is still the canonical search engine, too, despite the non-stickiness of search engines, to the point of simply being synonymous with search.

I don't know what the technical differences are, but I'm not sure how that's relevant. My point is, Apple doesn't seem to be interested in enabling that. And I'm not necessarily talking about collaboration, but even just sharing. Apple has

Deprecated was probably the wrong word. The things you cite are clearly still an important part of computing life, but it's still strange to me to use the connective tissue of the internet to enable computing, but completely ignore the actu

Am I the only one that thinks Apple is using revolutionary technology to work toward the perfection of a deprecated computing paradigm? I mean, yes, iCloud makes computing work like magic, but it sort of ignores what post-web computing mea

I've switched away from instapaper to just using readability's send-to-kindle button, but there still isn't a great instapaper client for Android. I understand it's more difficult now because the full api requires the client to be a subscri

That's a really interesting consideration that's more technical than I could talk about intelligently. It seems like something for which there would be a market solution, though, like a service tier between current consumer grades and comme

That's exactly what I've been thinking about (I noodled on the idea earlier this week: http://blog.byjoemoon.com/post/6277876911/the-personal-cloud )! I mean, with services like FIOS that offer upstream parity, I think this is a pretty ap

Well, if we don't work together, we wouldn't share a work friends group. It's true that a places metaphor is a bit less granular, but I think it makes it easier to understand how things are being shared than a bunch of one to many connectio

I think they're doing something functionally similar, which is basically contact list management into groups. They call it "Aspects" iirc. I think the problem with that is that it creates weirdly asynchronous or non-cohesive groups. I.e. if

I think the answer in a post-FB/Twitter decentralized/distributed social network world is to have transient, easily spun-up and spun-down social networks that you could think of as places. So, for work friends, I'd make (or join) a social n

Hm. Interesting point. So, I guess what you're saying is that the question itself is not from a "Post-PC" perspective? It's interesting, but seems like conflating a desire for archive with a desire for PC-level control. They seem like paral

That's a good observation, but I would submit that the reason iOS apps use web views instead of opening the browser is exactly because of a lack of a good way to get back to the originating app. App developers naturally don't want to sent p
